1. AD823AARZ Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not recommended and should only be cautiously evaluated for specific high-speed, high-input-impedance applications. While the AD823AARZ is compatible with the original LT1881IS8 in package and supply voltage range, its core performance differs significantly. The AD823AARZ is a J-FET input amplifier. Its advantages include extremely high input impedance (evidenced by an ultra-low input bias current of 1.3pA), a bandwidth of up to 10MHz, and a slew rate of 35V/µs. It far outperforms the LT1881 in applications involving high-speed signal processing or high-impedance sources such as photodetection. However, these benefits come at a cost: its input offset voltage (800µV) is more than an order of magnitude worse than the LT1881's (30µV), its quiescent current (6.3mA) is nearly 7 times higher, and its output drive current (17mA) is lower. Directly substituting it in circuits requiring high DC precision, low power consumption, or strong output load capability will degrade system accuracy, significantly increase power dissipation, and may lead to stability or drive capability issues.
2. AD823AARZ-RL Substitution Conclusion
Identical to the AD823AARZ, direct substitution is not recommended. The AD823AARZ-RL and AD823AARZ are the same die in different reel packaging; all electrical parameters, performance characteristics, and packaging are identical. Therefore, the feasibility conclusion for substituting the original LT1881IS8 is exactly the same as for the AD823AARZ described above. It may serve as a functional replacement only in applications where high offset voltage and high power consumption are acceptable, but where high speed and high input impedance are critically needed. This substitution sacrifices DC precision and power efficiency and is not a pin-compatible, performance-equivalent replacement. The "-RL" suffix denotes only the reel packaging format and does not affect the device's electrical characteristics or the substitution assessment.
