1. AD828ANZ Substitution Conclusion
As a high-speed video op-amp, the AD828ANZ significantly outperforms the LT1211 in bandwidth (130 MHz vs. 14 MHz) and slew rate (450 V/µs vs. 7 V/µs), making it superior for processing high-frequency or fast-transient signals such as video or high-speed data acquisition. However, its typical quiescent current (14 mA) is notably higher than that of the LT1211 (approx. 3.6 mA), leading to substantially increased power consumption, which makes it unsuitable for battery-powered or low-power applications. Furthermore, as a voltage-feedback amplifier, its DC precision parameters—such as input offset voltage—are generally inferior to those of the LT1211, potentially limiting its use in applications requiring high-precision DC amplification. It can serve as a high-performance substitute only in specific high-frequency, AC-coupled applications where speed and bandwidth are critical. Even then, power dissipation, supply design, and circuit stability must be re-evaluated. It is not a direct pin-compatible drop-in replacement.
2. LM258PG4 Substitution Conclusion
The LM258PG4 is a general-purpose, low-cost dual op-amp whose key performance metrics are far below those of the LT1211. Its gain-bandwidth product (700 kHz vs. 14 MHz) and slew rate (0.3 V/µs vs. 7 V/µs) are more than an order of magnitude lower, rendering it incapable of handling signals with comparable bandwidth or fast transients, resulting in slow dynamic response. Its input offset voltage (3 mV vs. 150 µV) is about 20 times larger, significantly degrading DC accuracy and output error. Its advantages lie in very low quiescent current (approx. 1 mA) and a wider operating voltage range. It may be considered as a low-cost alternative only in applications with extremely low signal frequencies—such as slow sensor signals or pure DC amplification where precision is not critical—or where extreme cost and power sensitivity justify an acceptable performance compromise. In the vast majority of applications requiring the performance level of the LT1211, the LM258PG4 is not a suitable replacement.
