1. LF356M Substitution Conclusion
Based on a detailed comparison, the LF356M cannot serve as a general-purpose replacement for the LT1792IS8PBF. Its viability is highly dependent on the specific application circuit requirements. The core differences between the two parts lie in their operating voltage range and DC precision: the LT1792 supports a wide supply voltage from 9V to 40V, whereas the LF356M has a nominal operating voltage of ±15V (i.e., a total of 30V) and may not function correctly at lower voltages. Furthermore, the LT1792 offers a superior input offset voltage of 200µV, significantly better than the LF356M's 3mV. In applications demanding high DC precision, such as precision sensor amplification or integrator circuits, a direct substitution would lead to substantial output errors.
If the application circuit operates near 30V and does not require high DC precision, but instead prioritizes the LF356M's lower input bias current (30pA vs. 300pA) or higher slew rate (12V/µs vs. 3.4V/µs), then the substitution may be acceptable from a performance standpoint. However, a rigorous assessment of the circuit's actual operating voltage range and error tolerance is still mandatory.
