1. FMAT1009 Substitution Conclusion
The FMAT1009 is not a direct substitute for the original SA18SS-03 component. While key parameters such as attenuation value, power rating, and impedance are identical, two critical and non-negotiable technical discrepancies exist. First, the frequency range: the FMAT1009 supports only 0-6 GHz, whereas the original part is rated up to 18 GHz. Signals within the 6 GHz to 18 GHz band will not be processed correctly, introducing significant additional insertion loss and severe performance degradation to the system. Second, the connector type: the FMAT1009 utilizes a standard SMA interface, while the original part features an SSMA interface. These connectors are mechanically and electrically incompatible; they cannot be physically mated. Attempting a forced adaptation will likely result in connector damage.
2. SA6-03 Substitution Conclusion
The SA6-03 is also not a viable direct replacement for the original SA18SS-03. The fundamental reasons for its incompatibility are identical to those of the FMAT1009. Primarily, its operational frequency ceiling (6 GHz) is substantially lower than the original's (18 GHz), completely failing to meet the high-frequency signal handling requirements of the initial design. Direct substitution would render the high-frequency signal path inoperative. Secondly, it employs an SMA connector, which is physically mismatched with the SSMA connector of the original part, creating an insurmountable mechanical barrier to installation and connection. Although its parameters may align in limited low-frequency applications, it is not feasible as a direct drop-in replacement.
