1. SA18SS-03 Substitution Conclusion
From a technical specification standpoint, the primary advantage of the SA18SS-03 lies in its significantly higher upper operating frequency limit (0–18 GHz) compared to the original part (0–12 GHz). It operates normally within the 12 GHz to 18 GHz band, where the performance of the original part would degrade, making it a superior choice for higher-frequency applications. A key limitation is its SSMA interface type. While mechanically compatible with SMA, its smaller size may lead to mechanical mismatch and electrical performance risks (such as unstable connections or susceptibility to damage) when mating with equipment designed for standard SMA interfaces. Therefore, it is not a direct "plug-and-play" substitute. If the system frequency requirement does not exceed 12 GHz and prioritizes physical interface compatibility and reliability, this is not a suitable replacement. However, if the system must operate above 12 GHz and can accommodate the SSMA interface or the use of an adapter, it can serve as a performance-upgrade alternative, provided the additional loss and reliability impact introduced by the adapter are evaluated.
2. FMAT1010 Substitution Conclusion
The FMAT1010 matches the original part in core parameters such as attenuation value, power handling, and impedance, and employs the same SMA interface. This ensures direct mechanical and electrical compatibility, which is its greatest advantage as a substitute. However, its operational frequency range (0–6 GHz) is only half that of the original part (0–12 GHz). Within the 6 GHz to 12 GHz range, its performance in terms of attenuation accuracy, VSWR, etc., cannot be guaranteed, potentially leading to system signal distortion or performance degradation. The FMAT1010 can serve as a fully viable direct replacement only if the system's maximum operating frequency is definitively known not to exceed 6 GHz. If the system involves frequencies above 6 GHz, it is completely unsuitable, and a part with wider frequency coverage must be selected.
