1. SA6S5W-06 Substitution Conclusion
Direct substitution is not recommended. The key discrepancy lies in its frequency range of only 0–6 GHz, which is significantly lower than the original part’s upper limit of 18 GHz. In the high-frequency band from 6 GHz to 18 GHz, this attenuator may fail to provide the nominal 6 dB attenuation value. This could lead to inaccurate signal amplitude control, introduce unpredictable insertion loss, or degrade return loss, thereby severely impacting the performance metrics and signal integrity of high-frequency systems. Substitution may only be considered if your application is strictly confined to frequencies below 6 GHz.
2. FMAT7460-6 Substitution Conclusion
Conditional substitution is possible, subject to system frequency evaluation. The difference is its frequency upper limit of 12.4 GHz, which is lower than the original part’s 18 GHz. For signals operating between 12.4 GHz and 18 GHz, the performance of this attenuator will deviate from specifications—it may not attenuate signals effectively and could cause impedance mismatch. If your system’s maximum operating frequency does not exceed 12.4 GHz, it can serve as a functionally equivalent substitute. However, if the system involves frequencies above 12.4 GHz, substitution is not viable.
