From the perspective of core electrical parameters, the SA18SS-03 is a technically viable substitute. Its attenuation value, power handling capability, impedance, and operational frequency range (0-18 GHz) are identical to those of the original FMAT7620-3 part. However, a critical technical discrepancy exists: the connector type differs. The original part utilizes an SMA Male connector, whereas the SA18SS-03 is described as an "SSMA Plug-Jack" (typically indicating one SSMA male and one SSMA female interface). SSMA connectors are physically incompatible with SMA interfaces. Direct substitution would therefore prevent physical mating with existing SMA interface cables or ports within the system, necessitating the use of SMA/SSMA adapters. This introduces additional insertion loss, potential points of impedance mismatch, and increases assembly complexity. Consequently, unless the system interface is designed to accommodate SSMA or a corresponding connector change is planned, this part is not a "drop-in" replacement.
2. FMAT7467-3 Substitution Conclusion
The FMAT7467-3 is compatible with the original FMAT7620-3 in terms of attenuation, power rating, impedance, and its SMA connector interface format, making it a suitable direct physical replacement. A significant technical difference, however, lies in the operational frequency range. The original part covers 0-18 GHz, while the FMAT7467-3 is specified only for 0-12 GHz. If your application circuit operates above 12 GHz (e.g., in portions of the Ku-band), employing this substitute will lead to performance degradation. This may manifest as deviation from the nominal attenuation value, deterioration of Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR), and other high-frequency performance issues. Therefore, this part is only applicable for scenarios where the operational frequency is 12 GHz or below. It is not a valid substitute if the system frequency approaches or exceeds 12 GHz.
