1. LM2904ST Substitution Conclusion Direct substitution is not recommended. The LM2904ST exhibits significant deviations from the original OPA2137EA in key performance parameters. Its input bias current is 20 nA, nearly 4000 times higher than the OPA2137EA's 5 pA. In circuits involving high-impedance signal sources (e.g., sensors, photodetection), the voltage error induced by this bias current will increase substantially, severely degrading precision. Furthermore, its slew rate (0.6 V/µs) and gain-bandwidth product (700 kHz) are significantly lower than the original's specifications (3.5 V/µs, 1 MHz), leading to a considerable reduction in dynamic response speed and high-frequency signal handling capability. Additionally, its output drive current (30 mA) is only half that of the original, which may limit performance when driving low-impedance loads. Direct substitution is only feasible in applications where input impedance, speed, and precision are not critical requirements.
2. LM358ST Substitution Conclusion Direct substitution is not recommended, though the LM358ST is similar to the LM2904ST and offers automotive-grade qualification. Its core electrical parameters are nearly identical to the LM2904ST: an input bias current of 20 nA, which remains orders of magnitude higher than the JFET-input OPA2137EA, making it unsuitable for high-precision, high-impedance applications. Its slew rate (0.6 V/µs) and gain-bandwidth product (800 kHz) are also far inferior to the original, resulting in insufficient dynamic performance. The primary distinctions are the LM358ST's slightly higher output current (40 mA) and its AEC-Q100 automotive certification, making it suitable for automotive electronic environments. However, this does not address its fundamental shortcomings in critical precision and speed parameters compared to the original. It can only be considered for applications insensitive to input error, with low signal frequencies, and where automotive-grade reliability is required. It cannot serve as a direct replacement for a high-performance JFET input amplifier.
