1. FMAT7463-6 Substitution Conclusion
The FMAT7463-6 can serve as a conditional substitute for the original part SA18S10W-06. Both parts are identical in attenuation value (6 dB), power handling (10 W), impedance (50 Ω), and connector type (SMA In-Line Module). The key difference lies in the frequency range: the original part covers DC–18 GHz, whereas the FMAT7463-6 is limited to DC–12.4 GHz.
If the application system operates at frequencies (including harmonic content) not exceeding 12.4 GHz, the substitution is fully viable with equivalent performance. However, if the system involves signals in the 12.4 GHz to 18 GHz band, using the substitute would introduce unpredictable additional loss, degrade VSWR, and risk component damage. Therefore, substitution is not acceptable under such conditions.
2. SA6S10W-06 Substitution Conclusion
Substituting the SA6S10W-06 for the original SA18S10W-06 carries significant risk and is generally not recommended. Although both share the same attenuation, power rating, impedance, and interface type, the SA6S10W-06 has a frequency range of only DC–6 GHz—one-third that of the original (DC–18 GHz).
Above 6 GHz, the performance of the SA6S10W-6 degrades sharply: it cannot maintain the specified 6 dB attenuation accuracy, and severe impedance mismatch may lead to increased signal reflection, degraded system VSWR, and potential thermal damage due to improper high‑frequency power dissipation. Substitution should only be considered if the system’s maximum operating frequency is strictly confined to below 6 GHz; otherwise, system performance will be compromised.
