Additional Information
An E-Stop switch is a manually operated push-button switch, typically designed as a red mushroom-head button that locks when pressed and releases when rotated. When machinery is in a hazardous state, it cuts off the power supply to stop equipment operation, thereby protecting personnel and equipment safety. It serves as a supplementary protective measure and should not be used to replace safety protection measures or other functional/safety functions. The E-Stop shall perform either a Category 0 or Category 1 stop function, with the specific choice depending on the risk assessment of the machinery. Category 0 stop is achieved by immediately removing power to the machine's actuating mechanisms (i.e., an uncontrolled stop); Category 1 stop is a controlled stop achieved by applying power to the actuating mechanisms to bring the machine to a stop, with power removed after the stop is completed.
